Gilvenbank Park

As soon as NGCC was formed in 1996 its members realised a total lack of recreational and leisure facilities in the whole area of north Glenrothes.
A lot of time and effort have gone into remedying that these last years - and the Magnus Drive Initiative based at Collydean Centre, has been doing the same. NGCC "found" the large Gilvenbank Park of 17 hectares, given to Fife Council by the GDC, totally unused - the only Fife Council activity was grass cutting!
Now people in the community have football pitches and a pavilion/changing accommodation in the south of the park, close to the Community Kick-Off. The Family Play Area in the north of the park, beside the car park is now well used along with the Keep Fit equipment. We are working with Fife Council at present to update this area.

Latest Developments.

The latest facility sought for Gilvenbank Park, which is central in the north Glenrothes area, is a Multi Games/Sports Area. It will be floodlit and therefore always available and will provide for basketball, football, netball, tennis and the like. The NGCC is always in contact with members of the community via our website, open meetings, newsletter and the media - and this facility is well approved. The MUGA is now in operation and being well used.

(The community police are delighted at the prospect of this floodlit MUGA.) It is one more means of attracting people out of doors to enjoy the green environment and become more sociable. There is no other MUGA in north Glenrothes - and there IS a popular demand.

Glenrothes Athletic FC Use the park as their local home ground for training and matches. Visit their website via our links page.

Glenrothes Cricket Club have now moved in and they are always looking for new members. The new clubhouse is now under construction and this will be a great asset to them.  Visit their web site by going to our links page and find all about them.
