North Glenrothes Community Council
About Us
The NGCC began in 1996 with 5 members, now 18, with the possibility of 20. This in a populated area c15,000.
Where is it? The NGCC covers all Glenrothes north of the river Leven, from Cadham village and Whinnyknowe in the south to Coul and Pitcairn in the north, and with the A92 adjacent on the east - and Leslie of course on the west.
What is it? On the 3rd of May 2007 the NGCC (North Glenrothes Community Council) received an almost unique status in Scottish CC's - charitable status.(Number SC038193) The OSCR (Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator) stated that we met the charity test as laid out in the Charity and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 - and in particular because our constitution clearly states our purposes as:
2.1 To ascertain, co-ordinate and express to the local authorities for the area, and to public authorities, the views of the community which it represents. It will encourage and promote community participation and a sense of community spirit within the community.
2.2 In particular the Community Council will seek to maintain and enhance the environment of North Glenrothes - its natural, physical and social environment. Our choice of icon says all - our aim is a better community in every way possible, for all the people in this highly residential area.
